The Mighty Victors!

He did it! I have to brag on Corey & his amazing accomplishment of running a marathon this weekend! After 7-8 months of training he completed the 26.2 miles in 3 hours 55 minutes. I am blown away! I don't have the discipline, determination (or desire, for that matter!) to do what he did. I wish I did, but as I recently told friends, I'm realizing that most of the things I like to do involve sitting (reading, visiting with friends, watching movies, etc.) - but I digress. It is such a huge thing to accomplish and I am so proud of him.

We made it out to mile 16 to cheer him on - there was no way we could make it to the start line at 7:30! Emma and I had made a sign out of pink glitter that read "Go Daddy!" I think he and the other runners appreciated it :). Our friends Chantelle & Noah there with us along with Corey's parents (making it so much easier for me to balance 2 kids & watching for Corey to take photos!). Chantelle's husband Brian also ran, so we had lots of fun cheering them on! The finish line was thrilling, even though we were just spectators. I was so impressed with the number of people able to do this amazing physical feat. Most impressive to me was the fact that Corey jogged across the finish line like he had been at it for 20 minutes or so instead of 3 hours & 55 minutes! He said the last 4 miles were tough, but it was mind over matter at that point. How could 22 miles be no big deal? Amazing! We're so glad he did it, and we're so glad he isn't planning on doing it again. It will be nice to have our weekends back. Yeah Corey!

Awesome!!! We caught up w/ Chantelle and Angie but missed seeing you. It WAS quite an amazing thing to see all those people cross the finish line, huh? But it does kind of make a girl feel bad to watch 60-somethings run past when my 30 year old self can't go more than a mile - sheesh! Congrats to Corey!!!

Two things:
1. Congratulations Corey! I'm so impressed and proud of you!
2. I laughed out loud when I read your comment on Shelly's blog about your dream about me. That was seriously funny.
