Smarty Pants

I meant to post this last week when she did it, but I was a little distracted. Emma loves letters lately and we spend a lot of our time sounding things out & spelling them. She's been able to spell her name for a long time and recognizes Mommy & Daddy, Meme, Papa, Addie, and a few other words. Recently she added "S-T-O-P" to her repertoire along with "Boaz" - they learned about Ruth, Naomi and Boaz in Bible class and it has quickly become one of her favorite words to spell aloud. But this picture amazed me. I bought her this chalk board last week because she loves to color and try to write things, and has been successfull at writing "o," "l," "u," and sometimes some other letters. But I had no idea that when she was asking me how to spell "Holly" that she was actually writing it! I had written it with her before a million times along with all our other friends and family's names, but she actually remembered it and managed to (in her cute 2 1/2 year old way) write it! Smarty pants.

What a smart little cookie! I am so glad you got a picture of that. It's priceless! I know you will enjoy your week with sweet Addie by yourself! I need to remember the goggle trick for next summer. Love you--

I read this to Cody and he said "that child is freaky smart". :) It makes me laugh because Cody always talks about Emma having no chance to be less than brillant because of you and Corey. Didn't they used to joke about her doing accounting as a child?! I am so glad you got a picture of her writing Holly's name. I am sure Aunt Holly will love it!

Okay. I'm no expert, but based on my experience with 2 and 1/2 year olds, Emma is AMAZINGLY SMART! I can't believe she has to wait 3 more years for kindergarten. At this rate, she'll be reading chapter books while the other kids are learning their ABC's. Seriously, she's going to be bored out of her mind because she already knows so much. At least she'll enjoy the social aspects of school! Love those pictures of Addie. I think she looks like you!
